Semiconductor device physicist. Native of Suzhou, Jiangsu province. Graduated from Tongji University in 1941. Obtained the master degree from Purdeu university in U.S.A. in 1946 and got the doctorate degree in 1949. Researcher of Institute of semiconductor,Chinese Academy of Sciences , honorary director of Microelectronic Centre. He helped to stablish the first transistor factory in our country in 1958. He has devoted to the research work of the GaAs lasers since 1963, and created a simple optical method to easily determine the crystal orientation and contributed to the success of the first GaAs lasers in our country. Since 1973, he has put forward some original academic viewpoints during his lead ship of the RLD of the GaAs high field formland (?)dynamics , instantaneous and photoelectricity characteristic of PNPN negative resistance laser. In 1978, Wang led the scientific staffs to concertrate on the study of how to enhance the rate of finished products of large scale integrated circuit chips and solved a seires of technological problems. The finished product rate of large scale integrated circuit chip have been rised remarkably and the costs has been greatly reduced.

He was elected Member of Chinese Academy of ScienceS in 1980.
