The Laboratory of High-speed Circuit and Artificial Neural Networks (hereinafter The Lab) was developed from the new devices and circuits research laboratory founded by Prof. WANG Shoujue, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in the 1970s. The Lab has accumulated a series of scientific research achievements in semiconductor device, multi-value fuzzy logic circuits, high speed digital-analog mixed signal circuits, algorithm and hardware-based systems for semiconductor artificial neural networks, visual information processing, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence.

In recent years, based on the previous research and on the present development trends of science and technology frontiers and social demands, the Lab is conducting interdisciplinary research on high-tech basic theories and industry applications in the fields of high-performance IC, brain inspired neural networks, biometric recognition, machine arts, deep learning, intelligent remote measurement and control Systems, and artificial intelligence chipsAn iterative 'theory-to-practice-to-theory' innovation and research methodology is formed in the lab.

The Lab has a young and innovative research team with great competence. At present, there are more than 50 academic researchers, including 5 professors, 9 associate professors, more than 10 research assistants, and nearly 30 junior researchers, Postdoctoral fellows, doctoral and master degree candidates.

The Lab has undertaken dozens of projects of the State Key S&T program, the State Major Research program, the State "863" program, the Major Research plan/Key Program/General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Knowledge Innovation Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, national strategic demand projects, cooperative projects with enterprises, and joint research laboratories, gained a series of research achievements, and won a number of national, CAS and Beijing municipal scientific and technical achievement awards, thereby established considerable domestic and international influence.
