At the invitation of Prof. Ninghua Zhu and Prof. Jianguo Liu, Prof. Gang-Ding Peng of University of New South Wales, Australia (UNSW) visited the Institute of Semiconductors for academic exchange on Jan. 6th, 2014. He made an interesting report entitled “Fiber laser sensor @ UNSW”.

In his report, Prof. Peng introduces the state-of-art research progress in Photonics and Optical Communications Group in UNSW, including the Special Silica Optical Fibres and Devices, Application-Specific Polymer Optical Fibres and Devices, Optical Fibre Sensors etc. The group has advanced facilities in developing special optical fibres and devices, and has done many interesting work. After that, Prof. Peng toured the Microwave Photonics Laboratory and Optoelectronic System Laboratory. The collaboration in photonic signal processing and fiber sensor research between the Institute of Semiconductors and UNSW will further be enhanced after this visit.
