The International Workshop on Quantum Manipulation in Low-Dimensional Semiconductors, which was organized by State Key Laboratory for Superlattices and Microstructures, ISCAS, was held on April 28–30, 2009, in Beijing.

　  Academician ZHENG Hou-Zhi and academician XIA Jian-Bai from the ISCAS acted as the consultants of the workshop, and Prof. LI Shu-Shen from the State Key Laboratory for Superlattices and Microstructures, ISCAS and Prof. Su-Huai WEI from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, USA, acted as the co-organizers. The scientists from six countries including America, Canada, China, Korea, Germany and UK attended the workshop. Yang Yong-Feng, deputy director of the Integrated Planning Office, Bureau of High-Tech Research and Development, CAS, also took part in the workshop.
