On October 14, 2009, the 6th China International Forum on Solid State Lighting (CHINA SSL 2009) was opened in Shenzhen.

　　Mr. LIU Jiu-Gui, deputy director of the Department of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization, Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, and Mr. YU Zhong-Hou, Deputy Secretary-General of Shenzhen Municipal Government attended the opening ceremony and made warm speeches. Professor LI Jin-Min, director of Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as an invited expert, presided over the forum.

　　Two branch meetings including The Materials, Devices and Equipments Branch Meeting, and The System Applications Branch Meeting, were held in the same period. The researchers from the United States, Japan, Korea, the mainland China, and Taiwan of China made a series of reports. Professor WANG Guo-Hong, deputy director of the Research and Development Center for Semiconductor Lighting, Institute of Semiconductors, CAS, presented a report, discussing the ways to reach 200lm/W.

　　The Sixth China International Exhibition on Solid State Lighting held in the same period was opened, also on October 14, 2009 in Shenzhen. The Research and Development Center for Semiconductor Lighting, Institute of Semiconductors, CAS, displayed a series of achievements  obtained in the Chinese National 863 Major Science and Technology Projects.

　　On the afternoon of October 16, 2009, the CHINA SSL was successfully closed. Mr. CAO Jian-Lin, Vice Minister of Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology attended the meeting.
