    Wafer Process Line    National Engineering Research Center for Optoelectronic Devices (NERC-OED), commissioned by then the State Planning Committee and set up by Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is a research center of national level.  Its establishment was in accord with the requirements of developing and industrializing optoelectronic technologies in China and also to respond to the call of both domestic and international markets.  The goal of the center is to conduct engineering research for identified key optoelectronic devices and components, to develop key techniques and universally adaptable technologies and to facilitate the industry with complete sets of processing technologies, etc.  On the 24th Dec. 1996, the NERC-OED passed the state check-and-acceptance. On the 20th Aug. 1999, High-tech Optoelectronics Co. Ltd., a high- technology joint venture enterprise between China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation and the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was incubated by using then the center as its base.  Meanwhile, the center continues to serve its origonal function as the national center of research.Chip Process Line
        Currently, the NERC-OED, Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is engaged mainly in the research, development and production of high power laser diodes, arrays, relative modules and novel semiconductor optoelectronic devices. NERC-OED has developed a complete set of autonomous technologies on semiconductor optoelectronic devices including material epitaxial growth, chip processing, packaging, aging and testing etc. and housed a whole processing line, which has passed the check-and-acceptance of a production line carrying out the national minitary standard and is the unique one on high power semiconductor laser diodes up to now.  NERC-OED also acts as a station for training postgraduate students for their master/doctoral degrees in the field of solid state optoelectronics and microelectronics and provides facilities and support for postdoctoral research projects.
